11 Thus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because he pursued his brother with the sword, and repressed all pity; his anger tore with no ceasing, and his wrath persisted with no end.

“And now, behold, the Ammonites and Moabites and Mount Seir, whom You did not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, when they turned away from them and did not destroy them,


behold how they are rewarding us by coming to drive us out of Your possession, which You have given us to inherit.


The Edomites continually came and struck Judah and carried off captives.


Remember, O  Lord, against the Edomites the day of Jerusalem, who said, “Raze it, raze it, to its foundation!”


Will You be angry with us forever? Will You prolong Your anger to all generations?


Do not be quick in your spirit to be angry, for anger settles in the bosom of fools.


For I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry; for the spirit would grow faint before Me, and the souls whom I have made.


Israel has cast off the good; the enemy will pursue him.


Egypt will become a desolation, and Edom a desolate wasteland, because of the violence done to the people of Judah— they shed innocent blood in their land.


Who is a God like You, bearing iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of His inheritance? He does not remain angry forever, because He delights in benevolence.


And I have a great anger for those nations who are at ease, for while I was angry but a little, they helped to increase evil.


I have loved you, says the Lord. But you say, “How have You loved us?” Was not Esau Jacob’s brother? says the Lord. Yet I have loved Jacob;


Whereas Edom says, “We are impoverished, but we will rebuild the ruins,” thus says the Lord of Hosts: They may build, but I will tear down. They will be called the Wicked Territory, and the people against whom the Lord has indignation forever.


Therefore be imitators of God as beloved children.


You are not to abhor an Edomite, for he is your brother. You shall not abhor an Egyptian, because you were a foreigner in his land.
