8 Then He gave him the covenant of circumcision. And Abraham became the father of Isaac and circumcised him on the eighth day. And Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob became the father of the twelve patriarchs.

When the Lord saw that Leah was unloved, He opened her womb, but Rachel was barren.


Bilhah conceived and gave Jacob a son.


They journeyed from Bethel, and when they were still some distance from Ephrath, Rachel went into labor, and she had a difficult labor.


As her soul was departing (for she died), she called his name Ben-Oni, but his father called him Benjamin.


Abraham also fathered Isaac. The sons of Isaac were Esau and Israel.


Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers.


Yet, because Moses gave you circumcision, you circumcise a man on the Sabbath day (although it did not come from Moses, but from the Patriarchs).


“Brothers, I may speak confidently to you concerning the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.


How then was it credited? When he was in circumcision? Or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.


Brothers, I am speaking in human terms: Though it is only a man’s covenant, yet if it is ratified, no one annuls or adds to it.


And this I say, that the law, which came four hundred and thirty years later, does not annul the covenant that was ratified by God in Christ, so as to nullify the promise.


Now consider how great this man was, to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave one-tenth of the spoils.
