21 Having heard this, they entered the temple at dawn and taught. But the high priest and those who were with him came and called together the Sanhedrin and the senate of all the Israelites, and sent to the prison to have them brought out.

But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca,’ shall be in danger of the Sanhedrin. But whoever says, ‘You fool,’ shall be in danger of the hell of fire.


When day came, the assembly of the elders of the people, both the chief priests and scribes, came together and led Him away to their council, saying,


Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests handed You over to me. What have You done?”


Early in the morning He returned to the temple. All the people came to Him, and He sat down and taught them.


for you will be His witness to all men of what you have seen and heard.


as even the high priest and the council of elders bear witness of me. From them I received letters to the brothers in Damascus, where I went to take even those who were there and lead them in chains to Jerusalem to be punished.


Then the high priest and all those who were with him (that is, the sect of the Sadducees) rose up and were filled with jealousy.


When they had brought them, they stood them before the Sanhedrin. And the high priest questioned them,


But a Pharisee in the Sanhedrin named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law honored by all the people, stood and ordered the apostles to be put outside for a little while.


Then they departed from the presence of the Sanhedrin, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.
