When he was in the Gate of Benjamin, a captain of the guard was there whose name was Irijah the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah. And he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “You are falling away to the Chaldeans!”


Then these men said, “We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, unless we find it against him concerning the law of his God.”


When he arrived, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him and brought many serious charges against him which they could not prove,


Have a good conscience so that evildoers who speak evil of you and falsely accuse your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed.
