Now Jonathan and Ahimaaz were waiting at En-rogel. A servant girl would go report to them, and they would go report to King David, because they could not be seen entering the city.


He catches the wise in their own craftiness, and the scheme of the shrewd is swiftly stopped.


No wisdom or understanding or counsel can stand against the Lord.


Lay not in wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; plunder not his resting place,


Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass, unless the Lord has commanded it?


Some in the crowd shouted one thing, some another. As he could not learn the truth because of the uproar, he commanded that he be brought into the barracks.


As Paul was about to be brought into the barracks, he said to the commander, “May I speak to you?” He replied, “Do you know how to speak Greek?


When much dissension arose, fearing that Paul would be torn to pieces by them, the commander ordered the soldiers to go down and take him from them by force and bring him into the barracks.


Then Paul called one of the centurions over and said, “Take this young man to the commander, for he has something to tell him.”


The next day they let the cavalry depart with him and they returned to the barracks.


Then he ordered the centurion to guard Paul, and to let him have liberty, and to forbid none of his own people from attending to him.


For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness,”
