He has given freely; he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn will be exalted with honor.


He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and He will repay what he has given.


Jesus said to him, “If you would be complete, go and sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. And come, follow Me.”


I say to you, make friends for yourself by means of unrighteous wealth, so that when you fall short, they may receive you into eternal dwellings.


When Jesus heard this, He said to him, “Yet you lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. And come, follow Me.”


But Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, I give half of my possessions to the poor. And if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I will repay him four times as much.”


Then every disciple, according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brothers who lived in Judea.


There was no one among them who lacked, for all those who were owners of land or houses sold them, and brought the income from what was sold,


and placed it at the apostles’ feet. And it was distributed to each according to his need.


It is redundant for me to write to you concerning the ministry to the saints.


As it is written: “He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness remains forever.”


Whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, but closes his heart of compassion from him, how can the love of God remain in him?
