The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me, and His word was on my tongue.


Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.


But they shall serve the Lord their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.


But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, although you are small among the tribes of Judah, from you will come forth for Me one who will be ruler over Israel. His origins are from of old, from ancient times.


He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying:


When they crucified Him, they divided His garments by casting lots to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, “They divided My garments among themselves and for My clothing they cast lots.”


David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit, declared: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, until I put Your enemies under Your feet.” ’


He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and in the Prophets and in the Psalms concerning Me.”


“Brothers, this Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit previously spoke by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became the guide to those who seized Jesus.


concerning His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh


And again Isaiah says: “There shall be a Root of Jesse; He who shall rise to reign over the Gentiles, in Him shall the Gentiles hope.”


Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David, according to my gospel,


God, who at various times and in diverse ways spoke long ago to the fathers through the prophets,


Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear His voice,


again He establishes a certain day, “Today,” saying through David, after so long a time, as it has been said: “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.”


So God, wanting to show more abundantly the immutability of His counsel to the heirs of promise, confirmed it by an oath.


(Other priests were made without an oath, but this One with an oath by the One who said to Him: “The Lord has sworn and will not relent, ‘You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.’ ” )


For no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.


These will wage war with the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings. Those who are with Him are called and chosen and faithful.”


On His robe and on His thigh He has a name written: king of kings and lord of lords.
