Now he who betrayed Him had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I shall kiss is the Man. Seize Him.”


“But before all these things, they will seize you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and rulers for My name’s sake.


Now when day came, there was a great disturbance among the soldiers about what had become of Peter.


When he had seized him, he put him in prison and handed him over to four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending to bring him before the people after the Passover.


When the jailer awoke and saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped.


The prison guard reported these words to Paul, saying, “The magistrates have sent to release you. Now therefore depart, and go in peace.”


They seized the apostles and put them in the common prison.


“We found the prison securely shut and the guards standing outside before the doors. But when we opened it, we found no one inside.”


But Saul ravaged the church, entering house by house and dragging out both men and women and committing them to prison.


and requested letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any there of the Way, either men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.


Are they servants of Christ? I speak as a fool. I am more: in labors more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, often facing death.
