“I indeed baptize you with water to repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.


He preached saying, “After me is coming One mightier than I, the straps of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and untie.


The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!


I have seen and have borne witness that He is the Son of God.”


Looking upon Jesus as He walked, he said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!”


Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.


He who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory. But He who seeks the glory of Him who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.


“For after David had served by the counsel of God in his own generation, he fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and saw decay.


Paul said, “John indeed baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people that they should believe in the One coming after him, that is, in Christ Jesus.”


But none of these things deter me. Nor do I count my life of value to myself, so that I may joyfully finish my course and the ministry which I have received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.


For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.


I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith.


When they have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends from the bottomless pit will wage war against them and overcome them and kill them.
