When the centurion and those with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they feared greatly and said, “Truly He was the Son of God!”


All bore witness to Him, and wondered at the gracious words which came from His mouth. Then they said, “Is this not Joseph’s son?”


Fear came on everyone. And they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen up among us!” and “God has visited His people!”


The officers answered, “No man has ever spoken like this Man.”


When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And all who were ordained to eternal life believed.


The word of the Lord was spread throughout the entire region.


who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. This man called for Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God.


But Elymas the sorcerer (which is his name by interpretation) opposed them, trying to divert the proconsul from the faith.


And Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.


After some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us return and visit our brothers in every city where we preached the word of the Lord and see how they are doing.”


When Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews in unity attacked Paul and brought him to court,


This continued for two years, so that all who lived in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.


So the word of the Lord powerfully grew and spread.


So if Demetrius and the craftsmen who are with him have a complaint against anyone, the courts are open and there are proconsuls. Let them press charges against one another.


There were about twelve men in all.


In that area was an estate of the chief man of the island, named Publius, who had welcomed us and courteously housed us for three days.


But they were not able to withstand the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.


When they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
