I will be a father to him, and he will be a son to Me. When he goes astray, I will correct him with the rod of men and afflictions of the sons of men.


Your house and dominion will endure before Me forever, and your throne will be established by the Lord forever.


However, I will not take the whole kingdom away, but will preserve one tribe for your son for David My servant’s sake and for the sake of Jerusalem which I chose.”


My mercy will I keep for him forever, and My covenant will stand firm with him.


if they break My statutes and do not keep My commandments,


Nevertheless I will not remove My lovingkindness from him, nor allow My faithfulness to fail.


I will not break My covenant, nor alter the word that has gone out from My lips.


Lord, where is Your lovingkindness of old, which by Your faithfulness You swore to David?


For I will defend this city to save it for My own sake and for the sake of My servant David.”


Incline your ear, and come to Me. Listen, so that your soul may live, and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.


Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to order it and to establish it with justice and with righteousness, from now until forever. The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will perform this.


For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He has also rejected you from being king.”


Samuel said to Saul, “I will not return with you, for you have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you from being king over Israel.”


Samuel said to him, “The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you this day, and has given it to a neighbor of yours who is better than you.


Now the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul and an evil spirit from the Lord terrified him.


He stripped off his clothes and he also prophesied before Samuel. And he lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”
