Then David understood that the Lord had appointed him king over Israel, and that He had exalted his kingdom for the sake of His people Israel.


Now when the king settled into his house and the Lord had given him rest from all of his enemies on all sides,


the king said to Nathan the prophet, “I am dwelling in a cedar house, but the ark of God is sitting in a tent.”


Solomon had seventy thousand porters and eighty thousand stonecutters in the mountains,


Solomon’s builders and Hiram’s builders, along with the stonemasons, cut them and prepared timber and stones to build the house.


Then Hiram the king of Tyre sent messengers to David with cedar wood, stonemasons, and carpenters to build a palace for him.


They gave money to the masons and carpenters, and food, drink, and oil to the people of Sidon and to the people of Tyre so that they would bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea, at Joppa, according to the grant they had from Cyrus king of Persia.


I will extol You, O  Lord, for You have lifted me up, and have not let my foes rejoice over me.


Son of man, because Tyre has said against Jerusalem, “Aha, the gateway of the peoples is broken. It has opened to me. I shall be filled now that she is laid waste,”
