4 Now Jonathan the son of Saul had a son with crippled feet. He was five years old when the report of Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel. His nurse picked him up and fled, but in her haste to escape, he fell and became lame. His name was Mephibosheth.

But the king spared Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul on account of the oath of the Lord that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.


So Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, because he ate continually at the table of the king. Now he was lame in both of his feet.


The king said, “Is there no one else from the house of Saul to whom I may show the kindness of God?” Ziba responded to the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan who is crippled in both feet.”


Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan the son of Saul came to David and fell upon his face and bowed down. Then David said, “Mephibosheth,” and he answered, “Behold, I am your servant.”


But Hadad fled to Egypt, he and some Edomites who served his father, Hadad still being a small child.


Jonathan’s son was Merib-baal, and Merib-baal fathered Micah.


The son of Jonathan was Merib-baal, and Merib-baal fathered Micah.


Now the Philistines gathered together all their armies to Aphek, and the Israelites were camping by the spring which is in Jezreel.


So David and his men rose early to depart in the morning and return to the land of the Philistines. But the Philistines went up to Jezreel.
