When they came to the threshing floor of Atad, which is beyond the Jordan, they mourned with a great and very sorrowful lamentation. He observed seven days of mourning for his father.


Gad came to David that day and said to him, “Go up and erect an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.”


When Araunah looked and saw the king and his servants coming toward him, he went out and bowed low to the king with his face on the ground.


Joab said to the king, “May the Lord your God add to the people a hundred times as many as they are, in the sight of my lord the king; but why does my lord the king so desire this thing?”


Then David said to Ornan, “Give me the site of the threshing floor so that I may build an altar on it to the Lord. Sell it to me at full price so the plague on the people may be restrained.”


Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was stayed.


and he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stopped from the Israelites.
