20 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done great acts. He struck down two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in the middle of a pit on a snowy day.

Saul and Jonathan, beloved and delightful, neither in life nor death will they be separated. They were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.


Now Joab was over the entire army of Israel. Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Kerethites and Pelethites.


Was he more honored than the three? He became their commander, but he did not attain to the three.


He struck down an Egyptian, an impressive man. Now the Egyptian had a spear in his hand, but Benaiah went down to him with a staff, seized the spear from the Egyptian, and killed him with his own spear.


These things Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did and won for himself a name alongside the three.


Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was in charge of the Kerethites and Pelethites. The sons of David were chief ministers.


But he has not invited me, your servant, or Zadok the priest or Benaiah the son of Jehoiada or your servant Solomon.


So Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Kerethites and the Pelethites went down and had Solomon ride on King David’s mule and brought him to Gihon.


But Zadok the priest and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada and Nathan the prophet and Shimei and Rei and David’s mighty men did not join Adonijah.


So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, who went out and attacked him so that he died. And the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.

Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Kerethites and the Pelethites, and the sons of David were the king’s principal officials.


Then the chiefs of Edom were amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling takes hold of them; all the inhabitants of Canaan are melted away.


The cities at the southern extremity of the tribe of Judah toward the border with Edom were Kabzeel, Eder, Jagur,
