Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.


The three warriors breached the Philistine camp and drew up water from the well in Bethlehem by the gate, and they brought it to David. However, he was not willing to drink it, so he poured it out as a drink offering to the Lord.


Now David was overcome with longing and said, “Who will get me a drink of water from the well of Bethlehem by the gate?”


My soul languishes for Your salvation, but I hope in Your word.


O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.


When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongues fail for thirst, I, the Lord, will hear them, I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.


For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground; I will pour out My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring;


Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who is saying to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”


but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water that I shall give him will become in him a well of water springing up into eternal life.”


On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.
