1 Now these are the last words of David: The oracle of David the son of Jesse, the oracle of the man who was raised on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the favorite psalmist of Israel:

Jacob called to his sons and said, “Gather yourselves together, so that I may tell you what will befall you in the last days.


He makes my feet like hinds’ feet; He sets me on my high places.


He is a tower of salvation for His king, and He acts faithfully toward His anointed, toward David and his descendants forever.


On that day then, David delivered for the first time this psalm of thanksgiving to the Lord into the hand of Asaph and his brothers:


Sing to Him, sing praise to Him, recount all His wonders.


“I have set My king on Zion, My holy hill.”


The prayers of David, the son of Jesse, are ended.


I have found David, My servant; with My holy oil have I anointed him,


by whom My hand shall be established; My arm also shall strengthen him.


who sing to the sound of the harp and invent musical instruments for themselves like David;


David himself says in the Book of Psalms, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand,


He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and in the Prophets and in the Psalms concerning Me.”


Now this is the blessing with which Moses, the man of God, blessed the Israelites before his death.


Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.


Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone merry? Let him sing psalms.


Now David was the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehem in Judah whose name was Jesse, who had eight sons. And the man was old in the days of Saul and advanced in years.


The dancing women sang and said, “Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.”


The adversaries of the Lord will be broken to pieces; He will thunder against them out of heaven. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth. “He will give strength to His king and exalt the horn of His anointed.”
