Then Ahimaaz the son of Zadok said, “Allow me to run and bring the news to the king that the Lord has delivered him from the hand of his enemies.”


And behold, the Cushite came and said, “Good news for my lord the king, for today the Lord has delivered you from those who rose up against you.”


They brought the head of Ish-bosheth to David in Hebron and said to the king, “Here is the head of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, your enemy who sought your life. This day, the Lord has given retribution against Saul and his descendent to my lord the king.”


The Lord said to my lord, “Sit at My right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.”


my lovingkindness and my fortress, my high tower and my deliverer, my shield and He in whom I take refuge, who subdues my people under me.


O  Lord God, to whom vengeance belongs— O God to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth!


For He will reign until He has put all enemies under His feet.


Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; their foot will slip in due time; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things to come hasten upon them.


The Lord will judge between me and you, and the Lord will avenge me on you, but my hand will not be against you.


It will be, when the Lord does for my lord according to all the good that He has spoken concerning you and has appointed you ruler over Israel,
