When Absalom fled and went to Geshur, he was there for three years.


Sons were born to David in Hebron: his firstborn was Amnon, by Ahinoam the Jezreelitess;


and his second, Kileab, by Abigail the widow of Nabal, the Carmelite; and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai, the king of Geshur;


The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination; how much more when he brings it with evil intent!


Behold, you fast for strife and debate, and to strike with the fist of wickedness. You do not fast as you do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.


And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search diligently for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring me word again, so that I may come and worship Him also.”


“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven against men. For you neither enter yourselves, nor allow those who are entering to go in.


Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the Spirit of the Lord came on David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.
