Jacob loved Rachel, so he said, “I will serve you seven years for Rachel your younger daughter.”


So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed to him but a few days because of the love he had for her.


He was very smitten by Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the girl and spoke kindly to her.


the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were fair and took as wives any they chose.


One evening when David arose from his bed and was walking on the roof of the king’s house, from the roof he saw a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful.


Then Amnon hated her greatly, so that the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her. And Amnon said to her, “Get up, go away.”


It depressed Amnon to the point of falling ill that Tamar his sister was a virgin, but it was impossible for Amnon to pursue her.


There were born to Absalom three sons and one daughter whose name was Tamar. She was a beautiful woman.


But King Solomon loved many foreign women in addition to the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites,


the third was Absalom the son of Maacah, the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur; the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith;


These were all the sons of David, besides the sons of the concubines, and Tamar their sister.


Charm is deceitful, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.


Do not desire her beauty in your heart or let her take you with her eyes;
