Then Nathan went to his house. The Lord struck the child that the wife of Uriah bore to David, and it became very ill.


Also I said, “What you are doing is not good! Should not you walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the nations, our enemies?


Let not those who wait on You, O Lord God of Hosts, be ashamed because of me; let not those who seek You be dishonored because of me, O God of Israel,


O God, how long will the adversary revile? Will the enemy blaspheme Your name forever?


Blessed is the man whom You discipline, O  Lord, and teach from Your law,


You answered them, O  Lord our God; You were a forgiving God to them, though You took vengeance on their deeds.


Now therefore, what do I have here, says the Lord, seeing that My people have been taken away for nothing? Those who rule over them make them wail, says the Lord, and My name is continually blasphemed all day long.


You alone have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.


Woe to the world because of temptations! For it must be that temptations come, but woe to that man by whom the temptation comes!


As it is written, “The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”


But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord, so that we would not be condemned with the world.


for whom the Lord loves He disciplines, and scourges every son whom He receives.”


“Those whom I love, I rebuke and discipline. Therefore be zealous and repent.
