Saul and Jonathan, beloved and delightful, neither in life nor death will they be separated. They were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.


How the mighty ones have fallen in the midst of battle! Jonathan was slain on your high places.


How the mighty have fallen, and the weapons of war have perished.


In that day the branch of the Lord shall be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land shall be the beauty and the glory for those of Israel who have escaped.


For he grew up before Him as a tender plant and as a root out of a dry ground. He has no form or majesty that we should look upon him nor appearance that we should desire him.


How the Lord has covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud in His anger! He has cast down from heaven to the earth the beauty of Israel; He has not remembered His footstool in the day of His anger.


The crown has fallen from our head; woe to us, for we have sinned!


I took the staff named Favor and cut it into pieces, to break the covenant that I made with all the peoples.
