Then all of the people came to persuade David to eat food while it was still day. But David took an oath, saying, “May God do to me, and more also, if I taste food or anything else before the sun sets.”


Rejoice not when your enemy falls, and let not your heart be joyful when he stumbles,

Then they took their bones and buried them under the tamarisk tree at Jabesh, and fasted seven days.


So Saul died with his three sons and his armor bearer, together with all his men on that same day.
