As the Tekoan woman spoke to the king, she fell on her face toward the ground and bowed low. Then she said, “Help me, O king.”


He said to him, “Say to her, Look, you have gone to all this trouble for us. What may be done for you? Would you have a word spoken on your behalf to the king, or to the captain of the army?” And she answered, “I am living among my people.”


As the king of Israel was walking across the city wall, a woman cried out to him, “Help, my lord king.”


So the woman got up and did according to the word of the man of God. She went with her household and sojourned in the land of the Philistines for seven years.


Now the king was talking with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, “Tell me all the great things that Elisha has done.”


When the king questioned the woman, she told him. So the king appointed to her an official, saying, “Restore all that was hers and all the proceeds of the field from the day that she abandoned the land until now.”


He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him. Is not this what it means to know Me? says the Lord.


She set out from the place where she had been, with her two daughters-in-law, and they went on their way to return to the land of Judah.
