So they searched for a beautiful young woman throughout the land of Israel and found Abishag, a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.


Elijah took the child and brought him down out of the chamber into the house and returned him to his mother, and Elijah said, “See, your son lives!”


Then he got down, walked once back and forth in the house, and went up, and bent over him; the boy sneezed seven times, and the boy opened his eyes.


Then she came in, fell at his feet, and bowed down to the ground. Then she picked up her son and went out.


So Elisha said, “Pick it up.” And he reached out his hand and took it.


Then Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had restored to life, “Get up and go, you and your household, and sojourn wherever you can, for the Lord has called for a famine, and it will come on the land for seven years.”


He who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He gave him to his mother.


Women received their dead raised to life again. Others were tortured and did not accept deliverance, so that they might obtain a better resurrection.
