Then the king of Assyria sent the Tartan, the Rabsaris, and the Rabshakeh from Lachish to King Hezekiah with a great army against Jerusalem. So they went up and came to Jerusalem. When they went up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is on the highway of the Fuller’s Field.


“Thus you shall speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying: Do not let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying: Jerusalem will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.


Then the Rabshakeh returned and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah, for he had heard that he had departed from Lachish.


Woe to the land vibrating with wings, which is beyond the rivers of Cush,


He heard them say concerning Tirhakah king of Cush, “He has come out to make war with you.” And when he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,


But a messenger came to Saul saying, “Hurry and go! For the Philistines have invaded the land.”
