that Your eyes may be upon this house night and day, even toward the place of which You have said, ‘My name shall be there,’ that You may listen to the prayer which Your servant shall make toward this place.


“Surely, O  Lord, the kings of Assyria have annihilated the nations and their lands


Perhaps the Lord your God will hear all the words of the Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria, his master, has sent to taunt the living God and will rebuke the words that the Lord your God has heard, and you might lift up a prayer for the remnant that are left.”


“Now, O my God, may Your eyes be open and Your ears attentive to the prayer that I offer in this place.


Incline Your ear to me; deliver me speedily; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me.


Arise, O God, plead Your own cause; remember how the foolish man reproaches You daily.


And render to our neighbors sevenfold into their lap the reproach with which they have reproached You, O Lord.


Incline Your ear, O  Lord, and hear. Open Your eyes, O  Lord, and see, and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to reproach the living God.


Perhaps the Lord your God will hear the words of the Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to reproach the living God, and will reprove the words which the Lord your God has heard. Therefore, lift up a prayer for the remnant that is left.”


O my God, incline Your ear and hear. Open Your eyes and look at our desolations and the city which is called by Your name, for we do not present our supplications before You for our righteousness, but for Your great mercies.


He esteemed the reproach of Christ as greater riches than the treasures in Egypt, for he looked to the reward.
