He said, “Capture them alive.” So they took them alive and slaughtered them at the pit of Beth-eked, forty-two men. Not a man of them remained.


So Jehoram slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the City of David. Ahaziah his son reigned in his place.


King Joram returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Arameans had inflicted on him at Ramah when he fought against Hazael king of Aram. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel because he was ill.


And they went up against Judah and broke through, and they took every possession found in the palace of the king, even his sons and wives, so that no son was left with him except his youngest Ahaziah.


eighty men came from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, having their beards shaven, and their clothes torn, and their bodies gashed, with offerings and incense in their hands to bring them to the house of the Lord.
