First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, because your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.


According to the grace of God which has been given to me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, but another builds on it. Now let each one take heed how he builds on it.


Why? Because I do not love you? God knows.


And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you. If I love you more, am I to be loved less?


Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, as some others, letters of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?


I do not say this to condemn you, for I have said before that you are in our hearts, so that we would die or live with you.


It is right for me to think this of you all because I have you in my heart, since both in my imprisonments and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are fellow partakers of my grace.


For the word of the Lord sounded out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith in God has gone forth, so that we do not need to say anything.
