The Lord became angry against Uzzah, and God struck him down on the spot for his irreverence. He died there beside the ark of God.


David feared the Lord that day, and he thought, “How can the ark of the Lord come to me?”


But You indeed are to be feared; who may stand in Your presence once You are angry?


For I am the Lord your God. You shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and you shall be holy, for I am holy. Neither shall you defile yourselves with any manner of crawling thing that moves on the ground.


For I am the Lord who brings you up out of the land of Egypt to be your God. Therefore you shall be holy, for I am holy.


But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap.


When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.”


Then the whole crowd from the surrounding country of the Gadarenes asked Him to depart from them, for they were seized with great fear. So He went into the boat and returned.


for the great day of His wrath has come. Who is able to withstand it?”


When the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, “The ark of the God of Israel cannot remain with us, for His hand is heavy upon us and upon Dagon our god.”
