He said: The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;


“Do you know the time when the wild mountain goats produce offspring? Or can you observe when the deer gives birth?


The high mountains are for the wild goats; the rocks are a refuge for the rock badgers.


Their judges are thrown over the sides of the cliff, and they hear my words, for they are pleasant.


The wicked watches the righteous, and seeks to kill him.


Those who seek my life lay their snares; those who seek my harm speak of destruction, and plan treachery all day long.


Saul chose for himself three thousand men of Israel. Two thousand were with Saul in Mikmash and in mountains of Bethel, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin. The rest of the people he sent each to his tent.


So Saul returned from pursuing after David, and he went against the Philistines. Therefore they called that place the Rock of Escape.


Then Saul arose and went down to the Wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the Wilderness of Ziph.
