And Joash the king did not remember the kindness that Jehoiada the father of Zechariah had shown him, but killed his son. As he was dying, he said, “May the Lord see and avenge!”


Plead my cause and redeem me; give me life according to Your word.


Plead my cause, O  Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me!


Vindicate me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly people; deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man!


Hear, all you peoples! Listen, earth and everything in it, that the Sovereign Lord may be a witness against you, the Lord from His holy temple.


I will endure the rage of the Lord, because I have sinned against Him, until the time when He pleads my case and executes judgment for me. He will bring me out into the light; I will look upon His vindication.


So I have not sinned against you, but it is you who are doing evil to me by waging war against me. May the Lord, the Judge, judge today between the Israelites and the Ammonites.”
