The king said to Abiathar the priest, “Go to Anathoth, to your own fields, for you are worthy of death. But I will not at this time put you to death, because you bore the ark of the Lord God before David my father and because you shared in all the hardships my father endured.”


Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things which you do not know.


For the Israelites will remain many days without a king and without a prince, without a sacrifice and without a standing stone, and without an ephod and teraphim.


He will stand before Eleazar the priest, who will ask for him about the judgment of the Urim before the Lord. At his word will they go out, and at his word they will come in, both he and all the Israelites with him, even all the assembly.”


they learned of it and fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding region.


But their scheme was known by Saul. They watched the gates day and night to kill him.


Therefore they inquired again of the Lord, “Has the man come here yet?” And the Lord answered, “Behold, he has hidden himself among the equipment.”


Saul said to Ahijah, “Bring here the ark of God.” For the ark of God was at that time with the Israelites.


But one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David.


And David said, “O  Lord, God of Israel, Your servant has certainly heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah, to destroy the city on account of me.


When Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David at Keilah, he came down with the ephod in his hand.


Then Saul summoned all the people together for war, to go down to Keilah to besiege David and his men.


And David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, “Please bring the ephod to me.” So Abiathar brought the ephod to David.
