They brought the head of Ish-bosheth to David in Hebron and said to the king, “Here is the head of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, your enemy who sought your life. This day, the Lord has given retribution against Saul and his descendent to my lord the king.”


Then again, the one having the appearance of a man came and touched me, and he strengthened me.


The world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth.


And David remained in the wilderness in strongholds, and dwelt in mountains in the Wilderness of Ziph. Saul sought him every day, but God did not give him into his hand.


Jonathan, the son of Saul, arose and went to David at Horesh. And he strengthened his hand in God.


The men of David said to him, “Behold, we are afraid here in Judah. How much more then, if we go down to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?”


Saul camped on the hill of Hakilah, which is before Jeshimon, by the road. But David stayed in the wilderness, when he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness.
