Now the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul and an evil spirit from the Lord terrified him.


So the servants of Saul said to him, “Behold, an evil spirit from God troubles you.


Let our lord now tell your servants, who are before you, that they might seek out a man experienced in playing the lyre. And it will come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is on you, that he will play with his hand, and you will be well.”


Then there was war again, and David went out and fought with the Philistines. He slew them with a great slaughter and they fled from him.


When Saul heard that David and the men who were with him were discovered, Saul was sitting in Gibeah under the tamarisk tree on the hill with his spear in his hand. And all his servants were standing about him.
