Jacob saw the look of Laban and saw he was not congenial toward him as before.


Also from times past until now, even when Saul was king, you were the one who led Israel going out and coming in, and the Lord your God said to you, Indeed, you will shepherd My people Israel as the ruler of Israel.”


Then Moses said to the Lord, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant. But I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.”


For Topheth has been long prepared, indeed, for the king it has been prepared. He has made it deep and large, a pile of fire with much wood; the breath of the Lord, like a stream of brimstone, kindles it.


David came to Saul, and stood before him. And Saul loved him greatly and he became his armor bearer.


The next day an evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he raved in his house. David was playing the lyre, as at other times. Now there was a spear in Saul’s hand.


Therefore Saul removed him from his presence and placed him as his captain over a thousand. And he went out and came in before the people.


And Saul took him that day and would not permit him to return home to his father’s house.


So Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan and Saul vowed, “As the Lord lives, he will not be killed.”


Then there was war again, and David went out and fought with the Philistines. He slew them with a great slaughter and they fled from him.
