Then Asa went out to engage him, and they arranged for battle in the Valley of Zephathah near Mareshah.


With this king is a strong arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God who will help us and fight our battles.” So the people leaned on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.


Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.


The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.


They have collapsed and fallen, but we have risen and stand upright.


Salvation belongs to the Lord. Your blessing is on Your people.    Selah


For I will not trust in my bow, nor can my sword save me.


The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.


Whom have you reproached and blasphemed? And against whom have you raised your voice, and lifted up your eyes haughtily? Against the Holy One of Israel!


“But I know your abode, and your going out and your coming in, and your rage against Me.


For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds,


not that we are sufficient in ourselves to take credit for anything of ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God,


I can do all things, because of Christ who strengthens me.


The Philistine said, “I defy the battle lines of Israel this day. Give me a man, and let us fight together.”


David spoke to the men that stood by him, saying, “What will be done for the man that kills this Philistine and takes away this reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?”


Your servant slew both the lion and the bear. And this uncircumcised Philistine will be as one of them, because he has reviled the armies of the living God.”


He had greaves of bronze on his legs and a bronze javelin between his shoulders.
