Their father Israel said to them, “If it must be so, do this. Take some of the best fruits in the land in your bags, and carry down a present for the man: a little balm and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, pistachio nuts and almonds.


The gift of a man opens the way for him, and brings him before great men.


But some worthless men said, “How will this man save us?” And they despised him, and did not bring him a present. But he remained silent.


And they will greet you and give you two loaves of bread, which you will receive from their hands.


Therefore Saul sent messengers to Jesse, and said, “Send me David your son, who is with the sheep.”


Carry these ten cheeses to the captain of their thousand, and look into your brothers’ health, and bring back news of them.”


Then Abigail hurried and took two hundred loaves, two bottles of wine, five prepared sheep, five measures of roasted grain, a hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and she loaded them on donkeys.
