Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh and went throughout all the land of Egypt.


Happy are your men, and happy are these your servants who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!


Now bring me a musician.” And when the musician played, the hand of the Lord came upon him.


“After that you will come to the hill of God, where the garrison of the Philistines is. And when you come there to the city, you will meet a group of prophets coming down from the high place with a harp, a tambourine, a flute, and a lyre before them. And they will prophesy.


Now the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul and an evil spirit from the Lord terrified him.


So the servants of Saul said to him, “Behold, an evil spirit from God troubles you.


Saul said to his servants, “Find for me now a man who can play well, and bring him to me.”


The next day an evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he raved in his house. David was playing the lyre, as at other times. Now there was a spear in Saul’s hand.


Now an evil spirit from the Lord was upon Saul as he was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand while David was playing an instrument with his hand.
