Attend to me, and answer me; I am restless in my complaint, and I murmur,


“Certain men, the sons of wickedness, are gone out from among you and have seduced the inhabitants of their city, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods,’ ” which you have not known,


then you shall inquire, search out, and ask diligently. And behold, if it be true and certain that such an abomination has been among you,


But Hannah answered, “No, my lord, I am a woman of sorrow. I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord.


Then Eli answered, “Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant you your request that you have asked of Him.”


But some worthless men said, “How will this man save us?” And they despised him, and did not bring him a present. But he remained silent.


Now the sons of Eli were corrupt. They did not know the Lord.


Please do not let my lord set his heart against this worthless man, against Nabal. For as his name is, so is he. Nabal is his name and folly is with him. But I, your handmaid, did not see the young men of my lord, whom you sent.
