I have set a place there for the ark, which houses the covenant of the Lord which He made with our fathers when He brought them out of the land of Egypt.”


In the ark there was nothing except the two tablets that Moses had given at Mount Horeb where the Lord made a covenant with the Israelites when they went out from Egypt.


The poles were extended so that the ends of the poles of the ark were seen in front of the Most Holy Place, but they were not seen outside; and they are still there to this day.


The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light, so that they might travel by day and by night.


And in the morning watch the Lord looked down on the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud and threw the camp of the Egyptians into confusion.


So as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the Israelites, they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud.


Moses said to Aaron, “Take a pot and put an omer full of manna in it, and place it before the Lord, to be kept for generations to come.”


You shall put into the ark the testimony which I shall give you.


You shall put the mercy seat above upon the ark, and in the ark you shall put the testimony that I will give you.


He took the testimony and put it into the ark, attached the poles to the ark, and put the mercy seat on top of the ark.


Then the glory of the Lord went up from the cherub and stood over the threshold of the temple. And the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the glory of the Lord.


The Lord said to Moses: Speak to Aaron your brother so that he does not come at any time into the Holy Place within the veil before the mercy seat, which is on the ark, so that he will not die, for I will appear in the cloud on the mercy seat.


The Lord said to Moses, “Return the rod of Aaron before the testimony, to be kept for a warning to rebels, that you may put an end to their complaints before Me, or else they will die.”


And on the day that the tabernacle was erected, the cloud covered the tabernacle, the tent of the testimony, and at evening there was over the tabernacle the appearance of fire until the morning.


“Take this Book of the Law, and put it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, so that it may be there for a witness against you.


He declared to you His covenant, which He commanded you to perform, even the Ten Commandments, and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.


which contained the golden censer and the ark of the covenant overlaid with gold, containing the golden pot holding the manna, Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tablets of the covenant.


And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power. No one was able to enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.
