I will make your descendants like the dust of the earth, so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants could also be numbered.


He brought him outside and said, “Look up toward heaven and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” And He said to him, “So will your descendants be.”


I will indeed bless you and I will indeed multiply your descendants as the stars of the heavens and as the sand that is on the seashore. Your descendants will possess the gate of their enemies.


Judah and Israel had a large populace, as numerous as the sand by the sea. They ate and drank and were happy.


Then David said to Joab and the leaders of the people, “Go count Israel from Beer-sheba to Dan and bring me a report, that I may know their number.”

I will turn toward you and make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will confirm My covenant with you.


As befits His great name, the Lord will not abandon His people. For it has pleased the Lord to make you His people.
