When the time drew near when Israel would die, he called his son Joseph and said to him, “If now I have found grace in your sight, please put your hand under my thigh and deal kindly and truly with me. Please do not bury me in Egypt,


When your days are complete and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up after you an offspring from your body, and I will establish his rule.


So King Solomon sent for him, and they brought him down from the altar, and he came and bowed himself to King Solomon. And Solomon said to him, “Go to your house.”


Then David called Solomon his son and commanded him to build a house for the Lord, the God of Israel.

But charge Joshua and encourage him and strengthen him, for he shall cross over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which you will see.”


The Lord said to Moses, “Behold, your days draw near when you must die. Call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tent of meeting, so that I may commission him.” So Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tent of meeting.


He gave Joshua, the son of Nun, an exhortation, and said, “Be strong and of a good courage, for you will bring the Israelites into the land which I swore to them, and I will be with you.”


Now this is the blessing with which Moses, the man of God, blessed the Israelites before his death.


This command I commit to you, my son Timothy, according to the prophecies that were previously given to you, that by them you might fight a good fight,


I command you, in the sight of God, who gives life to all things, and in the sight of Christ Jesus, who testified a good confession before Pontius Pilate,


I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:


For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come.
