they called and sent for him. And Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came and spoke to Rehoboam, saying,


Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel who made provision for the king and his household. Each man was assigned a month to make provision.


This is the account of the forced labor which King Solomon conscripted to build the house of the Lord and his own house, Millo, the wall of Jerusalem, Hazor, Megiddo, and Gezer.


They fasten heavy loads that are hard to carry and lay them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves will not move them with their finger.


For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome,
