1 John 5:16 - Modern English Version

16 If anyone sees his brother commit a sin which does not lead to death, he shall ask, and He shall give him life. This is for those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I do not say that he should pray for it.

So Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech, his wife, and his female servants. Then they bore children.


Therefore return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet and he will pray for you. Moreover, you will live. However, if you do not return her, know that you will surely die, you and all who are yours.”


Therefore He said that He would destroy them, had not Moses, His chosen one, stood before Him in the breach, to turn away His wrath from destroying them.


He said, “If now I have found favor in Your sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray, go among us, for we are a stiff-necked people. Pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.”


Therefore do not pray for this people, nor lift up a cry or prayer for them. For I will not hear them in the time that they cry to Me because of their trouble.


Then the Lord said to me: Do not pray for the good of this people.


As for you, do not pray for this people or lift up a cry, or prayer for them, or make intercession to Me, for I will not hear you.


I sought for a man among them who would build up the hedge and stand in the gap before Me for the land so that I would not destroy it, but I found no one.


And Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “O God, heal her, I pray!”


But the person who acts by a high hand, the natural-born citizen or the foreigner, the same reviles the Lord, and that person will be cut off from among his people.


And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.


I pray for them. I do not pray for the world, but for those whom You have given Me. For they are Yours.
