If ye saye vnto me we trust in the Lorde oure God. Is not that he whose hyllaulters and other aulters to, Hezekiah hath put doune, & hath sayde to Iuda and Ierusalem, bow youre selues before thys aulter here in Ierusalem.


And when God had holpe the Leuites that bare the Arcke of the apoyntement of the Lorde, they offered .vij. oxen and .vij. rammes.


And there were brought seuen oxen, seuen rammes, seuen lambes, and seuen kyddes to be a synne offeryng for the kyngdom, for the sanctuarye and for Iuda. And he commaunded the preastes the sonnes of Aaron to offer them on the aulter of the Lorde.


Therfore take .vij. oxen & .vij. rammes, and go to my seruaunte Iob: offre vp also for your selues a brentofferynge: & let my seruaunte Iob praye for you. Hym wyll I accepte, & not deale with you after youre folishnesse: in that ye haue not spoken the thynge whiche is right, like as my seruaunt Iob hath done.


An aulter of erth thou shalte make vnto me and thereon offer thy burntofferynges & thy peace offeringes, and thy shepe and thyne oxen. And in all places where I shall put the remembraunce of my name, thither I will come vnto the & blesse the.

These come vnto the, after the maner of a great people: yea my people syt doune before the, and heare thy wordes, but they do not there after: for in theyr mouthes they shewe them selues, as though they were feruent, but their herte goeth after theyr owne couetous lucre.


And in the feast of the seuen dayes he shall offre euery daye a bullocke and a ram, that are without blemish for a burntoffrynge vnto the Lorde: and an he gaote daylye for a synofferynge.


And on the mornynge Balac toke Balam and brought hym vp into the hye place of Baal: and thence he sawe vnto the vtmost part of the people.


And Balac dyd as Balam said. And Balac and Balam offered on euery alter a bullock and a ram.


And Balam sayed vnto Balac: make me here .vij. altares, and prepare me here .vij. bullockes and .vij. rammes.


And Balac dyd as Balam had sayed, and offered a bullocke and a ram on euery alter.


And the seuenth daye .vij. bullockes .ij. rammes and .xiij. lambes that are yerelynges & pure.


Wo be vnto you Scribes and Phariseis, hypocrites, for ye shut vp the kyngdome of heauen before men: ye youre selues go not in, neyther suffer ye them that come to enter in.


Wo be vnto them, for they haue folowed the waye of Cayn, and are vtterlye geuen to the errour of Balam for lukers sake, and peryshe in the treason of Core.


Then sayde Samuel: hath the Lorde as great pleasure in burnt sacryfyces & offerynges, as he hath that thou shouldest obeye hys voyce? Beholde, to obeye is better then offeryng, and to geue heade is better then the fat of rammes.
