Therefore in the .xiiij. yere came Kedorlaomor, and the kynges that were wyth hym, and smote the Raphims in Astaroth Karnaim, and the Susims in Ham, and the Emims in Sabe Kariathaim,


And vnto the sonnes of Gerson were geuen out of the kyndrede of the halfe trybe of Manasseh: Golon in Basan wyth her Suburbes and Astharoth wyth her Suburbes.


And Moses sente messengers from Cades vnto the kyng of Edom. Thus sayeth thy brother Israel. Thou knowest al the trauel that hath happened vs,


after that he had smytten Sehon the kynge of the Amorites which dwelt in Hesbon, and Og kinge of Basan which dwelt at Astaroth in Edrai.


But Sehon the kyng of Hesbon wold not let vs passe by hym, for the Lord thy GOD had hardened hys sprite and made his herte tough because he wold delyuer him in to thy handes as it is come to passe thys day.


And the costes of Og, Kynge of Basan, whych was of the remnaunt of the Raphaytes, and dwelt at Astharoth, and Edray,


and halfe Galaad and Astaroth, and Edrai, cities of the kyngedome of Og in Basan, which pertayne vnto the children of Machir the sonne of Manasses, and that vnto halfe the chyldren of Machyr by theyr kynredes.


For we haue hearde how the Lorde dried vp the water of the red sea before you, when you came out of Egypte, & what you dyd vnto the two kinges of the Amorytes on the other syde Iordan Sehon, and Og, which ye vtterlye destroyed.


and sayde vnto the men. I knowe that the Lorde hath geuen you the lande, bothe because that the feare of you is fallen vpon vs, and because that the enhabyters of the lande faynt at youre commyng.


Wherfore oure elders and al the Enhabitoures of oure countrey spake to vs, saying: take vitayles wyth you to serue by the waye, and go agaynst them, and saye vnto them: we are youre seruauntes. Nowe therfore make a couenaunt of peace with vs.


And they answered him. From a verye farre countrey the seruauntes are come in the name of the Lord thy God, for we haue heard the fame of him, and al that he dyd in Egypte,
