and then fell sycke & dyed in a lusty age (when he had liued inough) & was put vnto his people.


When Kynge Dauid was waxen olde and stryken in yeares, thoughe they couered him with clothes yet he caught no heate.


For Dauid sayde: the Lorde God of Israel hath geuen reste vnto his people, and they shall dwelle in Ierusalem for euer.


To speake of the chyldren of Israel: in the nombre of them were auncyent heades & capitaynes of thousandes & hundredes, and offycers that serued the kyng in all thynge accordyng to the companyes that came in or wente out, moneth by moneth, thorouout all the monethes of the yeare. And euerye companye had .xxiiij. thousande.


And when Abiah was layd to slepe wyth his fathers, they buryed hym in the citie of Dauid, and Asa his sonne raygned in his steade. In whose dayes the lande was quyet ten yeare.


And he put away oute of all the cyties of Iuda, the hylaulters and the ydolles: for the kyngedom was quiet before hym.


And so the reaulme of Iehosaphat was in tranquyllytie, for hys God had geuen hym rest on euery syde.


He hath made warres to cease in all the worlde: he hathe broken the bowe, he hathe knapped the speare in sonder, and brente the charettes in the fyre.


The spirite of the Lorde led them, as a tame beast goeth in the felde. Thus (O God) hast thou led thy people, to make thy selfe a glorious name wyth all.


& sayd vnto them. I am an hundred & .xx. yeare thys day, & can no more go out & in. Also the Lorde hath sayd vnto me, thou shalt not go ouer thys Iordan.


And Iosua toke the whole land accordynge to all that the Lorde sayde vnto Moses, and gaue it a possessyon vnto Israel, euerye man his parte in their trybes, and the lande rested from warre.


When Iosua was waxen olde, & strycken in yeres, the Lorde sayde vnto hym, thou art olde, and stricken in yeres,


And the Lorde gaue them rest roundabout accordyng to all that he sware vnto their fathers. So that there stode not a man of all theyr enemyes before them. But the Lorde delyuered all their enemyes into theyr handes.


And now the Lord hath geuen reste vnto youre brethren as he promised them. Wherfore returne and go vnto youre tentes & vnto the lande of youre possessyon, whych Moses the seruaunt of the Lord gaue you on the other syde Iordan.


And se youre kyng walketh before you. But I am olde & graye headed: & behold my sonnes are with you & I haue walked before you from my chyldhode vnto thys daye.
