Then sayde she: let the kynge remember hys Lorde God, that the next of the bloude gather not on heapes together to destroye, and that they slaye not my sonne. And he sayde: as sure as the Lorde lyueth, there shall not one hearre of thy sonnes head fal to the earthe.


speake vnto the chyldren of Israell & say: when a soule synneth thorowe ignoraunce, and hath done anye of those thynges whyche the Lord hath forbidden in hys commaundementes to be done:


And the cities shalbe to flee from the executer of bloude, that he which kylled dye not, vntyll he stande before the congregacyon in iudgement.


The iustice of bloude shall slee the murtherer, assone as he findeth him:


But and yf he pushed hym by chaunce & not of hate or cast at hym with any maner of thynge and not of layinge of wayte:


that by two immutable thynges (in which it was vnpossyble that GOD shaulde lye) we myghte haue perfecte consolacyon, whiche haue fled, for to holde faste the hope that is set before vs,


comen with the children of Israell and saye: Appoynte out free cities, of whiche I spake vnto you by Moses,


And the slear shal flee vnto one of those cytyes and shal stande in the entring of the gate of the cytye, and shal shewe hys cause in the eares of the elders of the sayd cytye. And they shal take him into the cytye vnto them, and shal geue him a place, that he maye dwel amonge them.
