And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him.


And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Beth–el, and pitched his tent, having Beth–el on the west, and Ha´i on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the Lord, and called upon the name of the Lord.


And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah–ji´reh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.


And he erected there an altar, and called it El–El´ohe–Israel.


And David built there an altar unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the Lord was entreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.

And Gideon the son of Jo´ash died in a good old age, and was buried in the sepulchre of Jo´ash his father, in Ophrah of the Abi-ez´rites.


And Saul built an altar unto the Lord: the same was the first altar that he built unto the Lord.


And his return was to Ramah, for there was his house; and there he judged Israel; and there he built an altar unto the Lord.
